Import Trakt Into Refract: Watched Shows, Movies, Ratings, Lists

Trakt offers a raw export of your whole account from Settings → Data. Refract reads that ZIP: watched movies and TV episodes with their dates, ratings and your personal lists. No API connection and no VIP tier needed on either side.

Step 1: get your Trakt export

You will end up with: trakt-backup-[date].zip.

1. Sign in to trakt.tv in a browser.
2. Go to Settings → Data.
3. Under "Raw Export", click "Export now".
4. Wait for the email with your download link, then download the ZIP.
5. Transfer it to the phone where Refract is installed.

Step 2: import it into Refract

1. Install Refract on iOS or Android (links at the bottom of this page) and sign in.
2. Open Settings → Import → Trakt and pick the file.
3. Review the preview: it shows what the file contains, category by category, and lets you untick anything you do not want.
4. Start the import. It runs in the background with a progress bar; you can leave the app.
5. Read the completion summary. Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.

What comes across

• Watched movies and TV episodes, with the day you watched them and rewatches.
• Ratings for movies, shows and episodes.
• Your personal lists, recreated as Refract lists.
• Watchlist entries, as plan-to-watch.

What does not, or only partly

• Scrobble history coming from Plex, Kodi or other players is included as watched episodes, but the device or source is not kept.
• Comments posted on Trakt and followed users are not in the export.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep using Trakt alongside Refract?

Yes. The import is a one-time copy; nothing links the two accounts afterwards. You can re-import a newer export later and only the missing items are added.

Will the import overwrite what I already have in Refract?

Imports merge data into your library. Review the source-specific preview and completion summary to see what is included.

Is importing free?

Yes. Imports, like the rest of the tracker, are free with no ads and no paywall. Refract Pro is optional cosmetic supporter tiers only.

Can I undo this import?

Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.
