Import SIMKL Into Refract: Episodes, Movies, Ratings, Watchlist

SIMKL can produce a CSV backup of your account from Home → Apps → Backup. Refract reads that file: episode progress show by show, watched movies with their dates, watching and dropped statuses, your 1 to 10 ratings exactly as they are, and your watchlist. The CSV backup is a SIMKL PRO feature; the import on Refract's side is free.

Step 1: get your SIMKL export

You will end up with: SimklBackup….csv.

  1. Open simkl.com and go to Home → Apps → Backup.
  2. Choose CSV Backup and download the file (SIMKL PRO is required to generate it).
  3. Save the CSV to the phone where Refract is installed, or transfer it there.

Step 2: import it into Refract

  1. Install Refract on iOS or Android (links at the bottom of this page) and sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Import → SIMKL and pick the file.
  3. Review the preview: it shows what the file contains, category by category, and lets you untick anything you do not want.
  4. Start the import. It runs in the background with a progress bar; you can leave the app.
  5. Read the completion summary. Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.

Frequently asked questions

I already imported SIMKL once. Can I import again?

Yes. Episodes, movies and statuses are turned off by default on a second import to avoid duplicates; enable them if you want to re-import. Everything else only adds what is missing.

Will the import overwrite what I already have in Refract?

Imports merge data into your library. Review the source-specific preview and completion summary to see what is included.

Is importing free?

Yes. Imports, like the rest of the tracker, are free with no ads and no paywall. Refract Pro is optional cosmetic supporter tiers only.

Can I undo this import?

Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.
