Import Your Netflix Viewing History Into a Tracker (Free, 2026)

Netflix will give you your viewing history in two forms, and Refract imports both: the viewing-history CSV you can download right now from your account page, and the full personal-data export Netflix emails you a few days after you ask. The full export is more accurate, because it carries watch times; the CSV is immediate. Drop either file in the same box and Refract works out which one it is.

Step 1: get your Netflix export

You will end up with: NetflixViewingHistory.csv (immediate) or the personal-data ZIP (a few days later).

  1. Viewing history, available now: open netflix.com/settings/viewed signed in to the profile you want, scroll to the bottom and choose "Download all". Save the CSV.
  2. Full export, recommended: on netflix.com open Account, then Security and Privacy, choose "Download your personal information" and confirm the request.
  3. Netflix emails a download link, usually within a few days. Download the ZIP; there is no need to unpack it.
  4. Transfer the file to the phone where Refract is installed, or open the email there.

Step 2: import it into Refract

  1. Install Refract on iOS or Android (links at the bottom of this page) and sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Import → Netflix and pick the file.
  3. Review the preview: it shows what the file contains, category by category, and lets you untick anything you do not want.
  4. Start the import. It runs in the background with a progress bar; you can leave the app.
  5. Read the completion summary. Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.

Frequently asked questions

Which Netflix file should I use?

The full personal-data export if you can wait a few days: it has watch times, so partial views and trailers are handled correctly. The viewing-history CSV if you want your library tonight; you can import the full export later, the import only adds what is missing.

Does this work after TV Time shut down?

Yes. Many former TV Time users rebuild their history this way: Netflix keeps the full record of what you watched there, with dates, and Refract turns it into episode progress.

Will the import overwrite what I already have in Refract?

Imports merge data into your library. Review the source-specific preview and completion summary to see what is included.

Is importing free?

Yes. Imports, like the rest of the tracker, are free with no ads and no paywall. Refract Pro is optional cosmetic supporter tiers only.

Can I undo this import?

Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.
