Import Muvy Into Refract: Library, Ratings, Notes, Lists

Muvy exports your library as a ZIP from its settings. Refract imports it: watched episode counts filled from the start of each series, movies with their dates, paused and stopped statuses, ratings doubled from Muvy's 1 to 5 scale to 1 to 10, commentaries and private notes, rewatches, favorites and lists.

Step 1: get your Muvy export

You will end up with: the .zip Muvy creates (saved from the share sheet).

  1. Open Muvy and go to Settings → Data → Export your library.
  2. Tap "Create export" and wait for Muvy to prepare it.
  3. Save the .zip file from the share sheet to the phone where Refract is installed.

Step 2: import it into Refract

  1. Install Refract on iOS or Android (links at the bottom of this page) and sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Import → Muvy and pick the file.
  3. Review the preview: it shows what the file contains, category by category, and lets you untick anything you do not want.
  4. Start the import. It runs in the background with a progress bar; you can leave the app.
  5. Read the completion summary. Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.
