Import JustWatch Into Refract: Watched Titles, Watchlist, Collections

JustWatch does not offer an export button. Its support team will send you a CSV of your data on request, and Refract reads that file: watched movies and episodes, your watchlist, and your likes, dislikes and tracked shows as private collections. Viewing dates are not in the file, so this import gives you a library, not a diary.

Step 1: get your JustWatch export

You will end up with: the CSV JustWatch support sends you.

  1. Contact JustWatch support from the app or justwatch.com and ask for an export of your data (the GDPR data-access request works).
  2. Wait for their reply with a CSV file.
  3. Save the CSV to the phone where Refract is installed.

Step 2: import it into Refract

  1. Install Refract on iOS or Android (links at the bottom of this page) and sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Import → JustWatch and pick the file.
  3. Review the preview: it shows what the file contains, category by category, and lets you untick anything you do not want.
  4. Start the import. It runs in the background with a progress bar; you can leave the app.
  5. Read the completion summary. Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.

Frequently asked questions

How long does JustWatch take to send the file?

That depends on their support; the export is a manual request on their side. Keep the CSV: re-importing it later only adds what is missing.

Will the import overwrite what I already have in Refract?

Imports merge data into your library. Review the source-specific preview and completion summary to see what is included.

Is importing free?

Yes. Imports, like the rest of the tracker, are free with no ads and no paywall. Refract Pro is optional cosmetic supporter tiers only.

Can I undo this import?

Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.
