Import IMDb Ratings and Watchlist Into Refract (Free, 2026)

IMDb sends you a ZIP called "All Data Categories" about half an hour after you request it. Refract imports your ratings, your watchlist, your lists and the titles they imply you have watched. It is the simplest way to bring years of IMDb ratings into a tracker that also handles TV episodes and anime.

Step 1: get your IMDb export

You will end up with: All Data Categories.zip.

1. In a browser, sign in to imdb.com and open Profile Name → Account Settings → Request My Data.
2. Click "Submit Request" in the popup.
3. Confirm the request from the email IMDb sends you.
4. Wait about 30 minutes for IMDb to email your data, then download the ZIP from the link.
5. Transfer it to the phone where Refract is installed.

Step 2: import it into Refract

1. Install Refract on iOS or Android (links at the bottom of this page) and sign in.
2. Open Settings → Import → IMDb and pick the file.
3. Review the preview: it shows what the file contains, category by category, and lets you untick anything you do not want.
4. Start the import. It runs in the background with a progress bar; you can leave the app.
5. Read the completion summary. Check the completion screen for the import's undo option and its scope.

What comes across

• Your ratings, on IMDb's 1 to 10 scale, with the date you rated.
• Your watchlist, as plan-to-watch.
• Your lists, recreated as Refract lists.
• Rated titles are also marked as watched.

What does not, or only partly

• IMDb has no episode-by-episode watch log, so TV progress is not reconstructed from this file; rate a show and it is marked as watched as a whole.
• Reviews written on IMDb are not part of the export.

Why does IMDb take 30 minutes?

The ZIP is generated on request by IMDb and sent by email; there is no instant download. Keep the email, the link stays valid for a while.

Will the import overwrite what I already have in Refract?
